Mais de 100 mil pessoas perderam a vida em uma batalha sangrenta para controlar Síria na qual se enfrentam as forças leais ao presidente Bashar Al-Assad e as facções que se opõem ao seu governo. Inspirada pela Primavera Árabe no Egito e na Tunísia, a revolução começou na em 15 de março de 2011 na Síria para depor o governo, mas como Assad mantém-se no poder, a revolta se tornou um conflito que a ONU afirma estar “deteriorando drasticamente” com até 5.000 pessoas mortas a cada mês.

Cerca de 1,7 milhões sírios foram obrigados a procurar abrigo nos países vizinhos e dezenas de edifícios históricos foram destruídos pelos bombardeios. Mas as histórias de resistência de manifestantes pacíficos, combatentes armados e centenas de milhares de refugiados permanece em grande parte fora da grande mídia. Nossa cobertura especial tem como objetivo destacar os rostos de resistência e sobrevivência do conflito mortal que está sendo travado na Síria.
