According to eia (US Energy Information Administration); Asia is the world’s largest petroleum consumer.

BRICS countries Figures between 1980-2010:

  • Asia lead by China and India increased from 10 to 25 million barrels/day
  • South America lead by Brazil increased from 4 to 6 million barrels/day
  • Soviet Union lead by Russia declined from 9 to 4 million barrels/day
  • Africa lead by South Africa increased from 1 to 3 million barrels/day
